Burnout Happens
after years of holding it together
You didn't burn out because you're weak. You burned out because you kept going long after anyone reasonably should have — and no one noticed, because you made it look easy.
The things you've normalized that aren't normal:

Chronic Exhaustion
It's obvious you feel drained, tired, and lack the energy to tackle your daily responsibilities. But unlike regular fatigue, this doesn't seem to improve with a good night's sleep or a short break. When basic chores or simple tasks feel impossibly hard, it's time to seek support.
Cynicism
Your studies, work, relationships, or daily life have all started to feel empty and pointless. This can show up as emotional numbness, irritability with colleagues or loved ones, and a growing sense of detachment from activities you used to enjoy.

Decreased Performance
Burnout significantly impairs your cognitive functioning and creativity. You're struggling to concentrate, making careless mistakes. There's not enough effort and willpower for even the things that used to be easy.
Physical Ailments
Prolonged stress takes a severe toll on your physical health. Common physical symptoms include frequent headaches, muscle tension, and gastrointestinal issues like stomachaches or nausea. You may also experience a weakened immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to getting sick and staying sick.

Everyone's got a story to tell
Maybe it was the boss who kept needing one more thing — or the group project that kept dragging on. The deadlines kept getting pushed, the inbox never emptied, the assignments kept stacking. Family and friends depending on you while deadlines piled up. But, everyone around you seemed to manage just fine.
Literally Me.
My name is Lawrence Kwok
Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
I work with burnout from a person-centered perspective. Rather than prescribing solutions, I offer a space where your experiences lead the way, and where exhaustion is treated as a logical response to impossible demands, not a personal failing.
Before becoming a therapist I worked across engineering, design, academia, healthcare, corporate, startup, and freelance environments. So when you describe what your work life actually feels like, you won't have to pause to bring me up to speed. I'll already be right there with you.
Together we can slow down in the ways that actually matter.
